Lady Hawks earn season sweep of Christian Brothers

Memphis, Tenn. -- The Lady Hawks opened the second half of conference play Thursday evening with a 57-46 win over Christian Brothers on the road.

Shorter moves to 8-10 on the season and 4-8 in the GSC; while the Lady Bucs slip to 5-13 overall and 3-9 in conference play. The win also gives the Lady Hawks the season sweep in the series, after winning the first meeting of the teams, 66-64, at the Winthrop-King Centre on December 6.

While also converting 73 percent from the line and holding the Lady Bucs to 29.3 percent in the game – 31.6 percent from 3-point range.

Shorter opened the game on a 12-2 run to jump out to an early lead. Madison Rice netted a 3-pointer with 5:47 to play in the frame giving the Lady Hawks a 12 point advantage. Only to see Christian Brothers close out the half on a 14-2 run to tie game at the intermission. Shorter answered in the second half, using an 8-0 run to start the period to regain the lead for good.

Ieshia Alexander led with a game high 14 points, while Rice added 10 for Shorter. Tamarr Williams, Jackie Hudson, and Tatiana Allen each chipped in with 8 points in the game.
