The Lady Hawks continued conference play over the weekend at West Alabama and GSC newcomer, Mississippi College; improving to 7-2 on the season and 5-0 in conference play after topping both teams 3-0.
Friday against the Tigers of West Alabama game scores were 25-21, 25-19, and 25-21, respectively.
Offensively, the Lady Hawks turned in a balanced performance as both,
Erica Baker and
Anna Graham posted eight kills, while
Cheyenne Frady and
Kelsi Jones recorded six each. Frady also added 15 assists on the night and
Elizabeth Dowd dished out 11.
Defensively, Dowd led Shorter; turning in a match high 13 digs and
Cheyenne McLemore tallied 10.
Saturday against the Choctaws, game scores were 25-20, 25-10, and 25-17, respectively.
Dowd led the offense for the Lady Hawks tallying a match high 13 kills; followed by Graham with 8. Frady posted a season high 30 assists on the day.
McLemore led Shorter on defense recording 14 digs while
Dena Pierce chipped in with 10.
The Lady Hawks will be back in action Tuesday, September 23, when Alabama Huntsville visits the Winthrop-King Centre.
