Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer drops both in Boca Raton

Boca Raton, Fla. -- The struggles continued for the Hawks as they dropped both games in Boca Raton, Fla. over the weekend. First, falling to Lynn University 4-1 Friday evening, and then falling to Palm Beach Atlantic, 3-0, Saturday afternoon.

Shorter falls to 0-4 on the season with the losses.

On Friday, Lynn jumped out to an early lead, scoring twice in the first ten minutes, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime. Down, but not out the Hawks looked to turn their luck around in the second frame, but the Fighting Knight defense was too much for Shorter to overcome. Lynn added to their lead, to make it a 3-0 game in the 82nd minute.

The Hawks were able to avoid the shutout, however, as Lucas Cavenco scored Shorter's first goal of the season two minutes later to make it a 3-1 game, before the Fighting Knights' netted a final goal as time expired to earn the win 4-1.

Nicolas Ferrigno, despite allowing four goals, made seven saves in the game as the Hawks were outshot 24-2.

In less than desirable circumstances, Shorter had to make a quick turnaround taking on the Sailfish on Saturday afternoon rather than Sunday afternoon as originally scheduled.

Palm Beach Atlantic took a 2-0 lead into halftime, and added to in the 51st minute on a goal from Tom Gavin.

Ferrigno recorded 3 saves in the game, while Sailfish 'keeper, Steeven Raymond tallied 7. Both teams took 11 shots and 5 corner kicks.

Shorter returns home to take on Limestone College Wednesday at 7:00pm in the first game at Ben Brady Field this season.
