Columbus, Ga. -- Shorter men's soccer dropped the second game of the season to Lincoln Memorial Sunday afternoon by a 1-0 decision. The loss is the second consecutive loss for the Hawks to start the year, which hasn't gone 0-2 to start a season since 2007.
Â
Despite keeping possession for most of the game, and creating a lot of chances Shorter just wasn't able to break through.
Â
Early in the second frame,
Nicolas Ferrigno saved a penalty kick and the subsequent rebound to keep the Hawks in the game. The Railsplitters, however, found the go ahead on a bad clear attempt as Leonardo de Silva scored in the 67
th minute. Shorter continued to add pressure, but couldn't net the equalizer as the LMU 'keeper recorded numerous key saves to guarantee the win.
Â
The Hawks will be back in action September 12 and 13, as they travel to Boca Raton, Fla. to take on Lynn University and Palm Beach Atlantic.
