ROME --Â Fouls proved costly as No. 24 Christian Brothers topped the Hawks, 74-61, Saturday afternoon at home.
Shorter moves to 5-3 on the season and 0-2 in conference play, while the Bucs improve to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the GSC.
The first half was a back and forth affair that concluded with the teams tied 30-30 going into the break. While the second half opened with Christian Brothers going on an early run to regain a lead they wouldn't let up.
The Bucs made the most of the opportunities that the Hawks gave them as they converted 19-28 free throws; while the Shorter went 3-6 from the line.
All in all, only one Hawk finished with double figures in the game –
Dedric Ware posted 18.
Jordan Jacks just missed double figures, tallying 9 points.
Three finished in double figures for Christian Brothers with Sidy Sall leading the way with a double-double of 21 points and 16 rebounds. Ryan Fleming also added 21 points, and Trey Casey chipped in with 19.
Shorter will look to get into the conference win column as they travel to West Florida Thursday, December 11, then to Valdosta State on Monday, December 15.
