Pensacola, Fla. --Â The Hawks earned their first conference win of the season, 81-68, over West Florida on the road Thursday night.
The win improves Shorter to 6-3 on the year and 1-2 in conference play; while the Argos move to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the GSC.
The Hawks took the lead early in the game and never looked back, leading by 10 at the break and by as many as 18 in the second half. Â
Dedric Ware led Shorter with 25 points in the game; while
Jordan Jacks turned in his fourth double-double of the season with 23 points and 13 rebounds. The Argos were led by Lendward Griffin's 20 points, and Terrence Townes' 11.
The Hawks made the most of their opportunities tallying 23 points off the bench and 21 off turnovers; while holding West Florida to 44% shooting, turning in 13 steals, and forcing 19 Argo turnovers.
Shorter will travel to Valdosta State Monday for an 8:00pm start before returning home to close out the 2014 portion of the season against Alabama Huntsville on Thursday and North Alabama on Saturday.
