Pensacola, Fla. -- In the final of three games against West Florida for the day, Shorter volleyball came up short; falling to the Argos 3-1 on the road.
The Lady Hawks fall to 19-4 on the season and 16-2 in conference play; while West Florida improves to 22-6 overall and 15-3 in the GSC.
Set scores were 23-25, 16-25, 27-25, 22-25, respectively; with Shorter taking the third set.
Erica Baker led the Lady Hawks offensively, tallying 15 kills in the game.
Jasmine Crook chipped in with 11, and
Anna Graham added 10 on the night.
Cheyenne Frady dished out 24 assists for Shorter, and
Dena Pierce added 22.
Defensively,
Elizabeth Dowd paced the Lady Hawks; posting 14 digs in the match.
Cheyenne McLemore recorded 13, while both Crook and Pierce added 11. Shorter posted 7 total blocks on the night, with
Kelsi Jones leading with 4 – all assisted. Graham added three for the Lady Hawks, and both Baker and Crook finished with 2 each.
The Argos were led by Corisha Bidlack; who finished the night with 15 kills. Colleen Starrs posted a match high 21 digs, and Monique StCyr added 31 assists.
Shorter will wrap up the regular season this weekend, as Union visits the Winthrop-King Centre for the 7:00pm game Friday. Saturday's game against Christian Brothers is set for 1:00pm.
