Pensacola, Fla. -- The Lady Hawks fell on the road, 1-0, to West Florida in the quarterfinals of the Gulf South Conference Tournament.
Shorter moves to 11-8 on the season and 5-7 in conference play, while the Argos improve to 12-5 overall and 9-3 in the GSC.
It was a hard fought game on both sides, but a penalty in the 32nd minute proved to be the difference as West Florida's Kelly Andres converted a penalty kick for the 1-0 score.
The Argos outshot the Lady Hawks 23-10, and held a 10-1 advantage in shots on goal.
Corrie Thomas and
Lora Bruce each posted two shots; while
Tabea Kirchner,
Katelyn Mullenix,
Chanel Mosley, and
Taylor Hendrix tallied one shot each.
Alden Powell played the complete game in goal for Shorter, tallying 8 saves through 90 minutes. While Katelyn Burkhart recorded one save.
