ROME --Â The Lady Hawks turned in their fourth straight win, topping Point University Saturday afternoon 71-62 at home.
Shorter, now 4-2 on the season, is 3-0 at the Winthrop-King Centre so far this season with conference play beginning next week; while Point moved to 6-4 overall.
Ieshia Alexander led the Lady Hawks with 18 points in the game.
Lindsey Crawford also turned in double figures with 14 points in the win, and
Jackie Hudson led Shorter with 10 rebounds.
After trading the lead for much of the first half, Shorter took the lead for good on a free throw from
Tamarr Williams with 5:17 to play and took a 36-30 advantage into halftime. The Lady Hawks built on their lead in the second frame, and led by14 with 7:04 to play.
Shorter shot 40% in the game, and went 21-30 from the free throw line.
Point was led by Catika Brown; who turned in a game high 24 points. Deresse Owens added 18 points for the Skyhawks.
The Lady Hawks hope the home success continues Thursday, December 4, when Union visits the Winthrop-King Centre for the first Gulf South Conference matchup of the season. Game time is set for 6:00pm.
