Franklin Springs, Ga. --Â The Lady Hawks are headed to the NCCAA National Championship Tournament after topping Point University 1-0 to win the South Region title.
The win improves Shorter to 13-8 on the season, while Point goes to 10-6.
Julia Raymond netted the golden goal to put the Lady Hawks ahead in the 74th minute on an assist from
Tabea Kirchner, and the score held, despite chances from Point to tie things up.
Alden Powell then secured the win for Shorter, saving a shot from Susan Hernandez with 5 minutes to play.
The Lady Hawks outshot Point 14-11, and held the advantage 10-5 in shots on goal.
Powell played the complete game in goal for Shorter, tallying five saves.
The Lady Hawks will now turn their attention to the national tournament which will be held in Kissimmee, Fla. December 1-6.
