ROME --Â After opening the season with two losses on the road, the Lady Hawks have turned things around since returning home to the Winthrop-King Centre; topping Hiwassee Saturday afternoon, 88-56, to even their season record at 2-2.
Shorter finished the game with five players in double figures.
Ieshia Alexander led with 17, followed by
Grace Rogers with 15, and
Shaundricka Mann with 13. Both,
Lindsey Crawford and
Tatiana Allen posted 11 points on the day.
Madison Rice just missed posting double figures, turning in nine points for the Lady Hawks.
The Tigers opened the game with a layup from Halei Lequire, but Shorter answered with a three-pointer from Rice to take the lead and didn't look back; jumping out to a big lead early, and leading by as many as 17 in the frame.
The Lady Hawks kept building in the second half, shooting 58% in the period; while also converting 8-10 free throws down the stretch.
Shorter's reserves made the most of their time in the game, chipping in with 38 of the Lady Hawks' points.
The Lady Hawks will look to keep their current win streak going, Tuesday, as they travel to Clark Atlanta for a rematch with the Lady Panthers. Game time is set for 6:00pm.
