Pensacola, Fla. -- The Hawks earned Gulf South Conference Tournament runner-up honors after falling to West Alabama, 3-1, in the championship game Sunday afternoon.
Shorter finishes the season 9-10-1 record, and a 5-4 conference mark. West Alabama went 12-6 on the season and 6-3 in the GSC.
The Tigers got on the board in the 13th minute as Thibault Charmey scored his first goal of the day to put West Alabama up 1-0. He added his second goal just before halftime on a free kick to make it 2-0. And, after the intermission, assisted on a goal from Evan Beutler at the 49:03 mark to cap off the scoring from the Tigers.
Irvin Espinal broke-up the shutout in the 73rd minute, for his second goal of the tournament.
West Alabama outshot the Hawks 16-8 and 7-3 in shots on goal.
Nicolas Ferrigno played the complete game in goal for Shorter; making 4 saves through 90 minutes.
