ROME -- The Lady Hawks made quick work of the Wolves Tuesday evening; topping West Georgia 3-0, to earn their 10th straight Gulf South Conference win.
Set scores were 25-16, 25-7, and 25-22, respectively, and improve Shorter to 12-2 on the season and 10-0 in conference play. West Georgia moves to 4-11 overall and 2-9 in the Gulf South Conference.
The Wolves put up a fight in the final set, looking to avoid the sweep. Trailing 17-13, the Lady Hawks used a 5-0 run to take the lead, but West Georgia answered to regain the lead, 22-21. Shorter then closed out the game tallying four unanswered points to earn the win 25-22.
Jasmine led the Lady Hawks on offense, recording 9 kills in the game. While Dena Peirce and Cheyenne Frady tallied 15 and 12 assists, respectively.
Defensively, Elizabeth Dowd led Shorter, tallying 14 digs; Cheyenne McLemore chipped in with 12 digs, and Crook added 9. Erica Baker posted 3 blocks in the match, and Lauren Meyer added two.
The Lady Hawks will be back in action Thursday as they take on North Alabama at home in the GSC Match of the Week.
