Lady Hawks top Spring Hill, 3-1

ROME -- The Lady Hawks topped Spring Hill, 3-1, Friday evening to earn their second GSC win of the season.

The win moves Shorter to 6-2 on the season and 2-2 in conference play; while the Badgers fall to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in the GSC.

Spring Hill got on the board first as Aeden Stranahan headed in a shot off a rebound in the 33rd minute. Ten minutes later, Kalley Estep, notched the equalizer as she floated in a shot from about thirty yards out.

Tied 1-1 at the break, both teams looked for the go ahead, with Shorter gaining the advantage in the 72nd minute as a penalty lead to a free kick for Corrie Thomas. Five minutes later, Taylor Hendrix, netted her first goal of the season to put the game away and give the Lady Hawks the win 3-1.

Shorter outshot Spring Hill 25-6, with an 11-5 advantage on shots on goal. Thomas led the way with seven shots, while both Hendrix and Cintia Lamas tallied five shots. Julia Raymond chipped in with four.

Alden Powell once again played the complete game in goal for the Lady Hawks allowing the one goal while making four saves.

Shorter will return to action Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm as West Florida visits Ben Brady Field.
