Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Karen Allen

Hawks fall to Union, 2-1

Jackson, Tenn. -- Union's good luck continued in the men's game as the Bulldog's earned their first Gulf South Conference win of the year with a 2-1 decision over men's soccer.

Shorter moves to 6-8-1 on the season and 4-3 in conference play, as they just couldn't put together a win on the road. A problem that has plagued them all season as all six of their wins have come at the friendly confines of Ben Brady Field.

The Hawks got on the board first as Robert Ochieng netted a pass from Fernando De Barros in the 19th minute, but the Bulldogs answered with two goals before the break take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.

In the second half Shorter looked for the equalizer, but despite numerous chances came up short.

The Hawks outshot the Bulldogs 23-8, and held the shots on goal advantage 15-6. Irvin Espinal led Shorter with five shot in game, three on target. Both Josh Addinal and Ryan Horn posted four shots each, while Ochieng and Lucas Cavenco chipped in with three each.

Nicolas Ferrigno played the complete game in goal for Shorter and tallied 4 saves through 90 minutes. While, Taylor Smith posted 11 saves on the night for Union.

The Hawks will be back in action Sunday at 4:00pm as they travel to Memphis to take on Christian Brothers.
