Birmingham, Ala. -- Charlie Dennis became the first men's soccer student-athlete to earn Gulf South Conference weekly honors Tuesday when he was named Freshman of the Week.
In two GSC wins over the weekend; Dennis helped lead the Hawks' offense who tallied nine goals, five against Mississippi College and four against Delta State, by scoring one goal, and assisting on four - three came against the Statesmen on Sunday.
In total, the Brighton native leads Shorter with 8 assists on the season; a mark that ranks third on the Hawks' all-time list for assists in a season, with four games to play. His three assists Sunday, tie for first on Shorter's all-time list of assists in a game; a record that has been matched five times since 2004.
The Hawks and Dennis will be back in action Tuesday evening as the host non-conference opponent, Trevecca Nazarene at Ben Brady Field.
