Livingston, Ala. -- The Lady Hawks fell to West Alabama, 2-0, Sunday afternoon on the road.
The loss drops Shorter to 8-4 on the season and 3-4 in Gulf South Conference play; while the Tigers improve to 10-2 overall and 6-1 in the GSC.
In a game where the Lady Hawks were outshot 23-4 and 13-4 in shots on goal the real difference was a span of 3 minutes where West Alabama tallied both its goals. At the 32:57 Katy Morris netted what would be the game winner, and three minutes later Nicki Gears added the insurance; giving the Tigers the win, 2-0.
Shorter goalie,
Alden Powell, recorded a season and career high 11 saves in goal for the Lady Hawks. While,
Taylor Hendrix led the offense for Shorter; tallying three of the Lady Hawks four shots.
Cintia Lamas chipped in with one shot.
Shorter will look to get back in the win column Friday, October 17, when GSC newcomer Mississippi College visits Ben Brady for a 5:00pm start.
