Livingston, Ala. -- The Hawks dropped the second 1-0 decision in as many games Sunday afternoon, falling to West Alabama on the road.
Shorter moved to 3-7-1 on the season and 2-2 in the Gulf South Conference with the loss; while the Tigers improved to 7-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Despite chances and opportunities from both teams to score, the deciding shot didn't come until the 69
th minute, when UWA's Vitor Gazza found the back of the net on a rebounded shot from Brian Meadows; giving the Tigers the win 1-0.
Nicolas Ferrigno played the complete game in goal for Shorter; tallying five saves. Offensively, the Hawks were led by
Irvin Espinal and
Josh Addinal who tallied 4 and 3 shots, respectively, with both recorded 2 shots on goal.
Shorter will look to get back on track Friday, October 17, when Gulf South Conference newcomer, Mississippi College comes to Rome for a 7:00pm game.
