Huntsville, Ala. -- The Lady Hawks started the two game Alabama, Gulf South Conference road trip off on the right foot; topping Alabama Huntsville 1-0 Friday evening.
The win improves Shorter to 8-3 on the season and 3-3 in conference play. The Chargers move to 4-7 overall and 3-4 in the GSC.
Both teams tallied 13 shots with 5 on goal, but Shorter came away with the advantage where it mattered as
Corrie Thomas delivered the decisive blow with just ten minutes remaining in the game as she netted her sixth goal of the season giving the Lady Hawks the lead 1-0.
The score stood thanks to another dominating performance in goal by
Alden Powell; notching her sixth clean sheet of the season in a complete game, five save night.
Shorter will continue wrap up the trip Sunday as they travel to Livingston, Ala. to take on West Alabama at 2:00pm eastern.
