Huntsville, Ala. -- The Hawks recorded their first GSC loss Friday evening as they fell to UAH, 1-0, in the first of two games this weekend in Alabama.
The loss moves Shorter to 3-6-1 on the season and 2-1 in the Gulf South Conference; while the Chargers improve to 9-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
Despite numerous opportunities for both teams, UAH didn't strike until the 76
th minute when Leo De Smedt tallied his first goal of the season to give the Chargers the lead they wouldn't let up.
In total, Alabama Huntsville outshot the Hawks 21-11; however both teams recorded 5 shots on goal.
Irvin Espinal led the Hawks with three total shots, and two on goal.
Nicolas Ferrigno played the complete game in goal for Shorter tallying 2 saves in the game while allowing the one goal.
Shorter will return to action Sunday as they travel to West Alabama for a 4:30pm start.
