ROME—The women's soccer team took the pitch for the first time at home this season Friday night. Unfortunately, the score wasn't in their favor, as they fell to West Alabama, 3-0.
The loss drops the Lady Hawks to 1-4 on the season, while West Alabama moves to 3-2.
The game remained scoreless until the 31st minute when Perri Lambert scored her first goal of the night; she scored thirteen minutes later to give West Alabama the 2-0 advantage at the break.
At the intermission, the Tigers had outshot the Lady Hawks 6-2, and added nine more in the second half to lead Shorter by a 15-5 margin.
West Alabama's final goal of the night came at the 50:38 mark as Rebekah Craig found the back of the net.
Helena Farinha lead Shorter with 2 shots on goal, while three different Lady Hawks chipped in with one—
Kelli Davis,
Jessica Wright and
Maggie Pruitt.
Shorter held the advantage in goalie saves; completing six, to West Alabama's one.
The Lady Hawks will be back in action Monday, September 23, as they travel to Laurinburg, N.C. to take on St. Andrews University; game time is set for 1:00 PM.
