Attended St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School in Columbus, Georgia, where he played under coaches Smitty Grider and Damian Daniels... Named a 2025 GIAA All-Star and West Central Georgia FCA All-Star... Earned First Team All-Region defensive honors in 2025... Named to the All-Chattahoochee Valley Second Team Defense in both 2024 and 2025... Earned First Team Opelika-Auburn News All-Area Defense honors in 2024... Served as a varsity defensive captain during the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

Son of Barron and Brandy Sawyer... Has three siblings, Aspyn Pickering, Elijah Sawyer and Barron Sawyer Jr.... Chose Shorter because of the family atmosphere, coaching staff and opportunity to compete at a high level while preparing for his future academically.
