Rome, Georgia native Drew Burnham is entering his 2
nd season on the hill as the Tight Ends Coach and Director of Football Operations.
Burnham comes to Shorter from Murray State University where he spent 2 seasons as a Quality Control Coach before being promoted to the Director of Football Operations. During his time at Murray State Burnham worked directly with K.D. Humphries and Jordon Gandy. Humphries became only the 2
nd player in Ohio Valley Conference History to throw for 10,000 yards in a career and was twice named FCS All-American. Jordon Gandy was twice named 1
st Team All-OVC and attended training camp with the World Champion Philadelphia Eagles.
Before his time in Murray Burnham served at the Running Backs Coach at Coosa High School in Rome, GA where the Eagles advanced to the sweet 16 of the Georgia AA State playoffs for the first time in 10 years. The 2 seasons prior he served as the Outside Linebackers and Quarterbacks coach at Model High School. The Blue Devils strung together back-to-back playoff births in those 2 seasons for the first time in nearly 30 years.
During the Summer of 2013, Burnham worked a Training Camp Internship with the World Champion Baltimore Ravens. He worked with the Wide Receiver group during his time in Baltimore and most notably worked with Receivers Torey Smith, Jacoby Jones and Brandon Stokley.
From 2009-11 Burnham served as an undergraduate assistant at Jacksonville State University working in multiple positions and areas of the program. He worked with several Gamecocks who would go on to NFL careers including Ryan Perrilloux, TJ Heath, AJ Davis, Alan Bonner and James Shaw. In all, 10 Gamecocks would see time in the NFL from those 3 years.
Burnham graduated from Murray State with a degree in Recreational Leadership and is married to his wife Christina. They have 2 Dogs, Kilo and Timber.
