Blake Robles

Entering his 4th season as Offensive Coordinator Blake Robles has executed 4 top 10 total yard games in school history in 2021 (579) vs. Erkskine & (500) vs. Clark Atlanta. In 2022, (466) Valdosta State & (560) vs. Brevard College.

In 2023, the Shorter offense rushed for the most yards and touchdowns since 2014 (2,189 & 23 TD’s) including 310 yards vs. North Greenville. While leading two of the most successful offensive seasons during the schools time in the top Division 2 Conference the Gulf South Conference. In 2023, Robles offense produced Two First Team All-Conference performers in Tight End John Dietl & Running Back Justus Durant for the first time since 2014. 2023 also saw Freshman Quarterback Josh Brown set a school record for competition percentage in a season (63.42%) & in a debut (88% vs. Erskine), finish 1st in the conference for total yards by a Freshman, and earn Conference Freshman of the week vs. Erskine College week 2.

The 2022 season was the Hawks most impressive statistical year yet under Offensive Coordinator, Blake Robles. They produced 4,113 total yards, 37 touchdowns while ranking number 1 in division 2 football  for turnovers, with only 5 in 733 plays. The Hawks were tied for 22nd in the country for passing touchdowns with two Quarterbacks Harold Cook & Aeneas Dennis combining for a school record 24 touchdowns (breaking the prior seasons record) to 3 interceptions. The offense was in the top 40 in the country for efficiency and yards per completion. The rushing attack produced freshman Justus Durant with 593 yards as a True Freshman and the unit averaged 4 yards a run. The offense produced All-American Tight End Kyle Morlock, and tight ends were tops for receptions and receiving touchdowns a repeat All American from 2021. Receiver Dorian Anderson was top 5 in conference for yard per reception while missing the final 3 games of the season.

In Robles' first season as Offensive Coordinator in 2021 the Hawks Quarterback Aeneas Dennis set a school record for passing touchdowns in a year, while Tight End Kyle Morlock enjoyed his first All-American season, Shorter's first All-American since 2017.

Earlier in his career as Quarterbacks Coach at Shorter:
  • Lead Quarterback Tyler Pullum to career highs in completions in a game (27) and completion percentage, while becoming the schools all-time leading passer in every major statistical category. In 2020, True-Freshman QB Harold Cook set a then school record for completion percentage in a debut vs. FCS opponent Kennesaw State.
  • Coached and developed Two-time All-American Tight End Kyle Morlock (2021, 2022), first since 2017.
Prior to Shorter Robles spent two years at Division 2 Clarion University in Pennsylvania working with Quarterbacks and Running backs.  In 2017, Robles developed Running Back Mylique McGriff who had 1,000 yards total offense including 900 rushing yards in 6 starts. In 2016 Robles coached Quarterbacks which saw Connor Simmons set the schools passing touchdown record in a career (67) and a unit throw for 26 Touchdowns and 2,901 yards on the season. In addition to on the field work Robles was also the team Film Coordinator and developed weekly scouting reports.
 
From August 2015 to July 2016 Robles worked for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Community Outreach Team where he trained local Quarterbacks at camps run by the organization. In addition, Robles trained Quarterbacks locally with NFL veteran Steve Deberg whom he’s work alongside as a player or coach since 2007.
In January 2015 Robles spent 3 months playing professionally in France’s top football league as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterback for Nimes Centurions. After that he was Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach in Monchengladbach, Germany for the Monchengladbach Wolfpack where he also worked camps at local schools to develop the community in football.
 
As player, Robles started two years at Eureka College in Illinois where he was an All-American and All UMAC Conference selection in 2013 and threw for 4,779 yards, 40 T.D’s and 64.6 completion percentage over his two year career. In 2013 he broke the school record for completions in a season (215). He earned his B.S. in Communication and Public Relations in 2014. Prior to that he played at Ottawa University in Kansas and Valley Forge Military Academy in Pennsylvania. The East Lake, Florida native resides in Rome, GA.
