Craig Folds is entering his fifth season as an Assistant Baseball Coach and Pitching Coordinator for the Hawks. He has an Associates degreeĀ in Psychology of Coaching and a Bachelors in Psychology with a concentration in behaviorism from Life University,Ā a Masters in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Argosy University, and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership, Minor Theological Studies from Liberty University. Craig brings a deep understanding of both human behavior and organizational dynamics to his coaching philosophy.
Prior to his coaching career, Craig spent 16 years in law enforcement. For 8 years, he served in various capacities from patrol and traffic duties to drug enforcement/SWAT operations. The other 8 years were spent as a detective.Ā
Folds is now an adjunct professor at Shorter, teaching courses in Forensic Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Intro to Psychology, Statistics, and Research Methods.
Craig's coaching journey spans over two decades, starting as a high school baseball coach from 1999-2014 before joining the Shorter coaching staff.Ā Under the leadership of Timmons, Folds, and Harrelson, Shorter's baseball team has achieved significant milestones, including a run to the championship gameĀ of the 2022 GSC Tournament and reaching the semifinals in 2023.
One of Craig's notable contributions is his innovative pitching program, grounded in sports science principles. Through his expertise, the majority of Shorter's pitchers have remained injury-free during his tenure, a testament to his emphasis on the biomechanics of pitching and the mental aspect of the game. He is dedicated to finding strengths in how the body moves and cultivating a positive mindset among his players. He also serves as theĀ team chaplain, providingĀ spiritual guidance and support to his players, fostering a Christian approach to their development.
Craig resides in Calhoun, Georgia with his wife Jamie, and his three children Tanner, Brooklyn, and Julia.Ā
