YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Shorter Softball team (13-32, 7-17 CC) fell to Young Harris (29-13, 21-3 CC) in a doubleheader sweep Friday afternoon, dropping game one 5-3 before falling 5-3 again in game two.
GAME ONE
The Mountain Lions struck first in the opening frame, using an RBI double to jump out to an early 3-0 lead. Both teams were held quiet over the next few innings, with neither side able to generate much offensively. After a slow start at the plate, the Hawks capitalized in the fourth, loading the bases with the help of walks and defensive miscues by Young Harris. Alex Hollingsworth delivered Shorter's first hit of the game, driving in Kiley Arnold to help knot the score at 3-3.
Young Harris answered in the fifth, pushing across a run to regain the lead at 4-3. Shorter was unable to respond, going three up, three down in the sixth. The Mountain Lions added an insurance run late and held on to secure the 5-3 victory.

GAME TWO
Game two remained scoreless until the third inning, when Young Harris broke through with a run to take a 1-0 lead. Shorter responded in the following frame, putting together a strong offensive inning as Parker Smith delivered a two-RBI single, with Kiley Arnold following with a sacrifice fly to give the Hawks a 3-1 advantage.
After a stretch of solid defensive play from both sides, Young Harris rallied late, scoring multiple runs to take a 5-3 lead heading into the final inning. Despite a strong effort, the Hawks were unable to mount a comeback, falling by the same 5-3 margin.
