DUE WEST, S.C.- The Shorter softball team fell in a doubleheader to Erskine on Wednesday afternoon, dropping game one 5-2 and game two 3-1. With the losses, the Hawks move to 11-30 overall and 5-15 in conference play.
GAME ONE

The Hawks struck first in the opening inning, as Rylee Gattis drove in Ashton Stevens with an RBI single to take an early 1-0 lead. After three scoreless frames, Shorter capitalized on a throwing error in the top of the fourth to extend the advantage.

Erskine responded in the bottom half of the inning with three runs to take a 3-2 lead. The Fleet added two more in the sixth for insurance, as the Hawks fell 5-2 in the opener.

GAME TWO

Erskine opened the scoring in game two, plating a run on a passed ball in the bottom of the second. Olivia Wooten tied things up in the fourth with an RBI double, providing a spark for the Hawks. However, the Fleet answered in the fifth with two runs to reclaim the lead. Shorter continued to battle but was unable to push across another run, falling 3-1 in the finale.
