ROME- The Shorter Women's Lacrosse team fell Saturday night in an 18-4 defeat at the hands of Montevallo.
After falling behind 2-0, the Hawks got on the board with a goal from
Kaitlyn Dwyer-Peppers to cut the deficit. Shorter continued to fight, but struggled to match the pace of the Falcons, who scored six straight before
Ariel Grimwade closed the run with a goal in the second quarter. Montevallo added on four more before the period ended, taking the 13-2 lead at the break.
After the Falcons opened the second half with a goal,
Cassidy Jones netted a shot off a feed from Kailtyn Dwyer-Peppers to give Shorter some momentum. After another goal from the visitors, Jones found the back of the net again, making it a 15-4 game. Unfortunately for Shorter, the Falcons continued to control the game, scoring three more goals across the second half, as the Hawks fell in an 18-4 final.
