ROME- The Shorter Women's Lacrosse team fell to Piedmont at home in a heartbreaking 15-11 loss at Ben Brady Field Wednesday night.
The Hawks struck first in the opening frame, with
Kaitlyn Dwyer-Peppers scoring to take the early lead. The Lions responded with a goal of their own before
Cassidy Jones and
Shyla Araujo connected on back-to-back goals to take the 3-2 lead after one.
Shorter dominated the second quarter, scoring four unanswered to take the 8-4 lead heading into the break. Piedmont recorded the first goal of the third quarter, before Jones matched it with a goal. Both sides continued to fight as the period pushed forward. The Lions would close the quarter hot, scoring three straight to make it 10-9 heading into the final frame.
Unfortunately for the Hawks, Piedmont continued to roll, scoring six straight before the Hawks tacked on one more in the final seconds as they fell in a 15-11 defeat.
