ROME- The Shorter Wrestling team put together a great effort as they defeated Bluefield State in their season finale 33-18 Tuesday night.
After the Big Blue struck first with a forfeit victory,
Max Meredith put the Hawks on the board in a major way, as the 133-pounder dominated his opponent with a 15-0 tech-fall victory.
Brayden Gibson kept it rolling in the 141-pound class, pinning his opponent in a 6-1 fall victory. Shorter fell in the 149-pound bout, but would be rejuvenated with a dominating performance from
Jonathan Fogus in the 157-pound class, as he downed his opponent quickly in a 7-0 fall.
Riley Davis was a force to be reckoned with, as he handled his opponent in the 174-pound division with a crushing 19-0 fall win.
Nahzir Turner followed suit, with a 15-0 tech-fall win to round out the Hawks. Shorter earned the 33-18 victory to close out the regular season, in which they quadrupled the amount of wins they had from last season, finishing at a competitive 4-7.
