GREENVILLE, S.C.- The Shorter Wrestling team was picked to finish 10th in the Conference Carolinas preseason polls, as announced by the league on Thursday morning.

The Hawks received 80 points total, finishing just ahead of Coker, Allen, and Bluefield State. Lander was picked to repeat as conference champions, receiving 191 points with ten first-place votes as UNC Pembroke and Newberry tied for second with 164 points each.

The Hawks return exciting faces this year, with Brayden Gibson, Jonathan Fogus, and Riley Davis noted as wrestlers to watch for the 2026-27 season. Gibson returns after a proflic 2025-26 season in which he became the first Hawk to qualify for the DII National Championship since the 2016-17 season. Fogus had a strong 2025-26 campaign as well, being a core member for the Hawks as Shorter had a strong 25-26 season. Davis rounds out the Hawks to watch, looking to capitalize on his strong sophomore season.

Shorter will kick off their season on November 8, where they will compete in the Georgia Open at Emmanuel University.
