GREENVILLE, S.C.- The Shorter Softball team was picked to finish 13th in the CC Preseason Polls as announced by the league on Friday.
The Hawks received 58 points in the poll, placing just in front of Erskine with 47 and Lees-McRae who received 35 respectively. Francis Marion received the top spot with 225 points (15) as UNC Pembroke came in second with 184 (1).
Madison Bishop,
Hayden Joyner, and
Rylee Gattis were named as Players to Watch by the conference.
Madison Bishop is looking to become a solid addition to the Hawks pitching staff. Bishop, a native of Marietta, Georgia had a storied career at Hillgrove High School and is an exciting face for the Hawks this season.
Hayden Joyner will be another new face for the Hawks this season. Joyner spent the previous two seasons at Georgia Highlands College, where she starred as both an outfielder and pitcher.
The last addition to the Players to Watch for Shorter is
Rylee Gattis. Gattis, a returner from last year's roster, is coming off career-highs in both pitching and batting and is looking to capitalize as she enters her senior season.
The Hawks will begin the season on January 30 as they host Lee in a doubleheader with first pitch set to take place at 1:00 PM.
