Shorter Football's Top 10 Moments: Hawks Claim NAIA Playoff Berth After Historic 2008 Season

The Shorter Hawks had a memorable year in 2008, achieving their best season in school history at 9-3, while also making a birth in the NAIA Football Championship Series.
Shorter proved to be an offensive powerhouse, averaging 27.5 points per game, including a 52-17 victory over Pikeville. The Hawks were also stellar on the defensive side of the ball, shutting down offenses and becoming a force to be reckoned with.

The Hawks managed to climb the polls for the NAIA finishing the season ranked 11th in the nation, which is the highest they have been ranked in school history. Then head coach Phil Jones helped lead the Hawks to the Mid-South West Division championship and officially clinch a birth in the NAIA playoffs.

The Hawks would end up falling in the first round but left their mark on Shorter athletics in a major way.
