Alissa Gembach earned her first career victory Thursday night as the Shorter women's soccer team defeated Albany State at home in a 2-0 victory.
Both teams battled hard in the early going, with no side gaining a clear advantage.
Kaylin Stallings put the Hawks on the board at the 36th minute to give Shorter the 1-0 lead heading into the half.
The Hawks continued to showcase their defensive prowess with goalkeeper
Karis Eccleston putting on a clinic, recording eight saves. The favor of the game turned to the Hawks as the Golden Rams recorded an own goal towards the middle of the second half to give the Hawks the 2-0 advantage. Shorter continued to play strong defense and even better offense as they earned their first shutout victory since the 2023 campaign.

The Hawks will return to action next week on Wednesday, September 10 to face Newberry College at 6:00 PM.
