ROME, Ga.- The Shorter Men's soccer team was defeated by King University Saturday afternoon in a 1-3 match.
The loss drops the Hawks to 0-3 on the season.Â
The Hawks played well defensively but let up an early goal to the Tornado in the sixth minute of the first half. Despite giving up the early goal, the Hawks responded well by creating offensive opportunities for each other and remaining tough by playing a strong and physical defensive attack.Â
The Tornado came out hot in the second half, connecting on two goals to jump ahead 3-0. Gabe DeHart recorded his first goal of the season in the 63rd minute after a beautifully placed ball by Kayden Pineda to give the Hawks some momentum. Santiago Gonzalez Uribe made an appearance for the Hawks in goal and performed well as the Hawks made a push late. Despite the effort from Shorter, they would fall to King in a 3-1 final.Â
