Shorter University Hawks Prepare for Battle in Atlantic Casualty Conference Carolinas Championship Tournament

Spartanburg, SC — 

In a pivotal confrontation on February 7, 2025, the Shorter University Hawks will look to avenge a previous defeat as they take on the Chowan Hawks in the fiercely competitive Atlantic Casualty Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Championship. The Shorter Hawks are hoping to learn from the previous lost and use it as motivation to change the outcome.

The Shorter Hawks enter the court with an impressive season record of 21-6, clinching victories in 15 of their 20 Conference Carolinas games. Their opponents, the Chowan Hawks, matched up closely with a record of 18-5, including the same number of conference wins. The previous matchup could be summed up by looking at the rebounding numbers. The Shorter Hawks lost the battle 30 – 41 with Chowan pulling in 20 offensive rebounds. Chowan won 57 to 49.

From Shorter University, Tiara Lewis led the team with 16 points and 8 rebounds, followed closely by Derrica McCall, who added 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Contributions also came from Tionna Baker and Emariah Grant, who put up crucial points and rebounds.
