ROME, Ga. — Hawks embrace Faith and Fortitude as they enter Conference Carolinas in 2025.
In the heart of Rome, Georgia, a storm is gathering — not one born of wind or rain, but of relentless determination and unshakable faith. The Shorter University Hawks are poised to embark on a defining journey, stepping boldly into Conference Carolinas for the first time in program history. Their path is lined with new opponents, unfamiliar challenges, and untold opportunities — yet these Hawks are undeterred. They march forward with a steadfast belief that greatness lies ahead.
At the heart of this conviction stands Head Coach Zach Morrison, a man driven not only by the X's and O's of the game but by the deeper mission to shape men of character. Morrison's faith-filled approach has resonated throughout his roster, none more so than with the 30 seniors who stand as pillars of leadership for the team. "Our seniors are hungry to take the conference by storm," Morrison declared. "They've been putting in the work, and I believe this group can achieve something special."
Anchored in Experience, Powered by Talent
The Hawks' foundation rests on experienced leadership, exemplified by returning captain Jahseim Henry. Henry's quiet strength and unwavering dedication have galvanized his teammates throughout spring practices, his actions speaking louder than any pre-game speech could.
Offensively, the Hawks possess a backfield brimming with potential. Shorter's ground game flourished last season, averaging over 150 rushing yards per contest — a testament to a physical offensive line that has matured into a formidable unit. That experience will be pivotal as the Hawks prepare to grind out victories in what promises to be a fiercely competitive conference schedule.
Defensively, Shorter's resolve is equally apparent. The 2024 unit flashed brilliance, generating 12 turnovers and accumulating 22 sacks. Now, with core playmakers returning, the Hawks' defense is poised to sharpen its teeth and frustrate opposing offenses.

Faith as the Unyielding Foundation
While the scoreboard will track points, the true measure of Shorter Football transcends statistics. For Coach Morrison and his team, victory is found not only in triumphs on the field but in the cultivation of resilient, Christ-centered men.
"We strive to build young men of character," Morrison explained. "Football is an incredible tool to teach accountability, resilience, and faith — and our team is committed to living out those principles every day."
As Shorter University prepares to embark on this new chapter, the Hawks soar into uncharted territory not as underdogs, but as a band of brothers emboldened by faith, fortified by preparation, and united in purpose — determined to glorify God with every snap, every step, and every sacrifice.
