The Shorter University Hawks solidified their position in the Conference Carolinas with a hard-fought 62-55 victory over the King Tornadoes on February 13, 2025. The match, held at the Winthrop-King Centre in Rome, was a pivotal moment for the Hawks, who improved their season record to 17 wins and 4 losses, showcasing their dominance in the conference standings.

Derrica McCall led the charge with 17 points, including key free throws down the stretch. Tori Smiley contributed 8 points and 8 rebounds, while Tiara Lewis and Tionna Baker each added 8 and 7 points, respectively, with Baker securing a game-high 10 rebounds.

From the beginning, Shorter University established an early lead and maintained it throughout the game, capitalizing on key plays and strategic defensive stops. The game's first half concluded with Shorter leading 33-23, setting a solid foundation for the second half. King made a late push in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to as little as four, but Shorter responded with clutch baskets and free throws to hold them off.
