ROME, Ga.- The Shorter Volleyball team fell to Converse in the Winthrop-King Centre Saturday afternoon in a 3-0 defeat.
The visitors gained control in the first set, jumping out in front 10-3. Shorter would make a late push, but it would not be enough as Converse took the 1-0 lead. The visitors continued their dominance in the second set, taking another early lead and not looking back as they made it a 2-0 affair. The Hawks showed some life in the third set, taking a 10-4 lead. Shorter kept controlling the pace despite the Valkyries crawling back. The Hawks, unfortunately, fell short after the visitors scored five unanswered to complete the sweep.
Victoria Sparks led with 10 kills as she and
Claudia Loyola each recorded nine digs.
