Box Score TIGERVILLE, S.C.- The Shorter Volleyball team suffered a tough 3-2 defeat at the hands of North Greenville in Hayes Gymnasium Wednesday night.
After falling behind to the Tigers 11-5 in the opening set, Shorter rallied back, evening it at 16 all. The Hawks went on a 9-3 run to close out the set and gain the upper hand. The Hawks came out swinging in the second set, jumping out in front 9-3. The Tigers stormed back, keeping it close towards the end. Shorter held on late to take the 2-0 lead.
North Greenville controlled the third set early, taking a large lead. The Tigers maintained control despite a push from Shorter to make it a 2-1 affair. The Hawks and Tigers battled hard in the fourth set, with no side gaining an advantage. After the Hawks took the 20-15 lead, the Tigers rallied with a 10-3 run to force a fifth set. Unfortunately for Shorter, the Tigers' momentum carried into the final set, as they completed the reverse sweep to defeat Shorter in a heartbreaking 3-2 loss.
Victoria Sparks led the Hawks with 16 kills, while also leading Shorter with 13 digs alongside
Brooke Thao.
Reaghan Whitlock performed well for Shorter, recording 10 digs to round out the Hawks' defensive effort.

Shorter will return to Rome this Saturday as they host Converse at 1:00 PM.
