MONTGOMERY, Ala.—Shorter softball travelled to Auburn University at Montgomery on Friday to start the GSC series with a doubleheader. The Lady Hawks couldn't quite come up with a win in either game against #5 AUM.
 
Game 1 AUM 9 SU 4
The Lady Warhawks plated the first run of the game in the bottom of the first. The Lady Hawks answered back in the top of the second to tie the game 1-1 when Kylie League singled to center field to score Taylor Phillips. In the bottom of the second, AUM took the lead by adding one run to the scoreboard.
In the top of the third, Kaylee Combs singled to right field and reached second on an error to score Hannah Morales,2-2. In the bottom of the third, Lady Warhawks tallied up two more runs, 4-2.
In the top of the fourth, Alexis Sewell singled to left center to score Phillips,4-3. AUM got a rally going in the bottom of the fourth with a total of four runs. Then added on one more in the bottom of the fifth, 9-3.
The Lady Hawks plated one more run in seventh with a single from Lexie Wright to score Morales,9-4.
Angela Cecere and League each went 2-3. Morales, Combs, and Phillips each went 2-4 at the plate. Wright and Sewell each recorded one hit. With a team total of 12 hits.
 
Game 2 AUM 8 SU 0
The Lady Warhawks scored four runs in the first along with two in the third, and one in the fourth and fifth for a final score of 8-0. The Lady Hawks recorded a total of three hits. Morales, League and Tuder tallied in one hit each.
 
The Lady Hawks will head back to Montgomery to play the final game of the series on Saturday, April 30 with first pitch slated for 1p.m. eastern time.
