BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Shorter softball travelled to Shea Brothers Stadium for a midweek doubleheader against Mississippi College
The Lady Hawks end the day with an overall record of 7-37 while the Lady Choctaws 22-17.
Game 1 SU 3 MC 6
The Lady Hawks outhit the Lady Choctaws 7-6, but left 14 runners stranded on the base paths. MC scored two runs in the first. Shorter came out in the top of the fourth to plate one run from a bases loaded walk to score
Kaylee George, 2-1. The Lady Choctaws scored four runs combined in the fourth and fifth innings. In the top of the sixth, Shorter plated two more runs.
Kaylee Combs reached on a fielder's choice to score
Alexa Varner. Then
Carlee Graham hit a sacrifice fly to score
Hannah Morales, 6-3. The Lady Hawks tried to get a rally going in the top of the seventh but left two runners on to end the game.
Kaylee George led the Lady Hawks by going 3-3 at the plate. Morales, Graham, Sewell, and Varner each added in one hit.
Game 2 SU 0 MC 6
The Lady Choctaws and Lady Hawks remained scoreless for the first two innings. In the top of the third, Mississippi College opened up the game by plating one run across. In the top of the sixth, Lady Choctaws got a rally to add three more runs to the board. Along with another one in the top of the seventh, 6-0.
In game two, the Lady Hawks recorded two hits.
Angela Cecere and
Colbi Ballard each had one hit.
