ROME, Ga.—The Lady Hawks hosted Columbus State University for a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday.
Game 1 CSU 8 SU 4
The Cougars came out strong with the bats with a total of six runs in the first three innings, 6-0. It wasn't until the bottom of the sixth that the Shorter bats started to come alive with a total of four runs on five hits.
Kaylee Combs lead the inning off with a walk and then
Kennedi Smith came into pinch run. Then
Taylor Phillips was hit by a pitch. Followed by a single from
Kaylee George singling down to right field. Then
Carlee Graham singled down the left field line to score Smith.
Hope Short continued her hot streak and doubled down the left field to score Graham and George, 6-4.
In the top of the seventh, the Cougars plated two more runs. The Lady Hawks were unable to come back and took the loss 8-4.
Combs and Short each went 2-3, while Short added in two RBI's.

Alexis Sewell, George, Graham, and Cecere each added in one hit.
Game 2 SU 8 CSU 6
The Lady Hawks took authority with the bats and scored the first run of the game with a double from Short to score
Kaylee George in the bottom of the second.
In the bottom of the fifth,
Carlee Graham hit a three run homerun to centerfield that scored Combs and Sewell, 4-0.
The Cougars scored four runs in the top of sixth to tie the game up, 4-4.
In the bottom of the sixth,
Angela Cecere walked to score
Hope Short. Then Combs reached first on an error from shortstop to score
Alexa Varner. Then
Carlee Graham walked to score Cecere.
With some pitching struggle in the top of the seventh, Shorter gave up two runs but kept ahold of the lead with a 7-6 win.
The Lady Hawks recorded a total of six hits with one each from Cecere, Sewell, Graham, Short, Cripps, and Varner.
Shorter will take off the Easter weekend and head to Irondale, Alabama for a midweek neutral site doubleheader against Mississippi College. First pitch is slated for 4p.m. on Wednesday, April 20
th.
