ROME, Ga. – The Shorter Hawks fell 6-2 in the final game of the series with the University of West Alabama Tigers on Saturday afternoon at the Robert H. Ledbetter Baseball Complex. With a doubleheader sweep yesterday and a loss today, Shorter won the series 2-1.
The Hawks are now 12-7 on the season and 6-3 in Gulf South Conference (GSC) play. The Tigers improve to 5-14 on the season and 3-3 in GSC play.
Shorter plated the game's first run in the home half of the first.

West Alabama answered back quickly and tied the game in the top of the second. However, the Hawks took the lead back in the bottom of the second after
Andres Ferreiro singled to center to score
Kody Krause. This made the score 2-1 Shorter.
The score remained 2-1 until the top of the sixth. In this inning, the Tigers plated three runs to take the lead in the game. After this, West Alabama plated two more runs, one in the eighth and one in the ninth, while the Hawks did not score again.
Ferreiro went 3-for-4 with an RBI today.
Carson Cook started for the Hawks today and tossed two innings, giving up one run on four hits.
Trevor Nanney (L, 1-1) pitched three innings in relief, striking out six and giving up three runs on three hits and three walks.
