AMERICUS,Ga.— The Lady Hawks travelled to Georgia Southwestern State University for a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday. Shorter fell in both games with final scores of 9-1 and 10-8.
Shorter fell to 4-29 while GSW improved to 22-12.
Game 1
Unfortunately errors and untimely hits killed the Lady Hawks in game one. Shorter scored their lone run in the top of the second with a single up the middle from
Hannah Morales to score
Izzy Kinard. The Lady Hurricanes tied the game up 1-1 in the third inning. In the fourth and fifth innings, GSW scored 8 runs to cause the run rule to be in effect. Shorter out hit the Lady Hurricanes 8-5.
Offensive leaders for the Lady Hawks included
Kaylee George and Morales as they both went 2-3.
Kaylee Combs,
Taylor Phillips,
Carlee Graham and Kinard each added in one hit.
Game 2
GSW started off in first inning by plating two runs across and then added on three more runs in the second. The Lady Hawks got the bats going in the third inning when Lexie Wright singled to second base to score Phillips. Then Hannah Morales walked to score Wright. In the fourth, Alexis Sewell singled up to left center to score Phillips. Followed by Angela Cecere blasting one to left center to score Wright.
GSW hit a homerun in the bottom of the fourth to add on more insurance runs, 7-4.
Phillips whacked a two run homer out of the park that scored Payton Tuder. Although the Lady Hurricanes kept the Lady Hawks from scoring the remainder of the game.
Morales and Sewell each went 2-4 with one RBI. Cecere went 2-2 with two walks. Tuder, Phillips and George each added in one hit.

Shorter will be back in action at Alto Park on Friday, April 1st for single game against Lee University with first pitch slated for 5p.m.
