Lady Hawks Couldn't Fool Lady Flames

ROME, Ga.—Shorter softball hosted Lee on Friday evening for the start of the conference weekend series. The Lady Flames took game one with a final score of 5-3.
 
Shorter falls to 4-30 overall, 1-17 GSC while Lee improves to 17-14 overall and 10-14 GSC.
 
The Lady Flames started out game one of the series with three runs in the first inning. The Lady Hawks plated their first run in the bottom of the first when Kaylee Combs singled to left center to score Angela Cecere, 3-1.

In the bottom of the fifth, Alexis Sewell blasted a homerun over the right field fence, 3-2. Taylor Phillips hit a ball to the shortstop, who bobbled the ball, that advanced Cecere home to tie the game up 3-3.
 
In the top of the seventh, Lady Flames scored two runs to take the lead 5-3.
 
Shorter was unable to get a rally going in the bottom of the seventh.
 
The Lady Hawks will be back in action on Saturday for a doubleheader versus the Lady Flames with first pitch slated for 2p.m.
