Lady Hawks Fall Short Against Lady Falcons

ROME,Ga.—The Shorter Softball team came out strong with the bats in game three of the conference series with Montevallo. The Lady Hawks came up short in the end with a final score of 10-8.
 
The Lady Hawks fall to 4-27 overall while the Lady Falcons improve to 17-11.
 
Shorter scored first in the bottom of the first with a double from Payton Tuder to score Hannah Morales. Followed by a single from Carlee Graham to score Tuder. Then Kaylee George reached on a fielders choice to score Kaylee Combs. Paytn Cripps kept the rally going with a sacrifice fly to right field to score Taylor Phillips, 4-0.
The Lady Falcons came back to take the lead in the top of the third, 5-4.
The Lady Hawks answered back in the bottom of the inning with a three run homerun from Cripps to score Angela Cecere and Phillips, 7-5.
 
In the fourth inning, Montvallo hit a two run homerun to tie up the game, 7-7, followed by plating two more runs to take the lead, 9-7. The Lady Falcons tacked on one more run in the sixth.
 
Shorter's Kaylee Combs doubled down the left field line to score Tuder in the bottom of the sixth,10-8.
 
The Lady Hawks and Falcons remained scoreless in the seventh inning to give Montevallo the series sweep.
The Lady Hawks kept the bats hot all throughout the game with a total of 12 hits. Izzy Kinard, Cripps, Graham, Phillips, Combs and Tuder each recorded two hits.
 
Up Next
The Lady Hawks will travel to Americus, Ga. for a midweek doubleheader against Georgia Southwestern State with first pitch slated for 3p.m.
