ROME,Ga.—The Shorter Softball team returned home to Alto Park on Saturday for a Gulf South Conference doubleheader against University of Montevallo. The Lady Falcons came out on top in both games with final scores of 12-1 in game one and 14-4 in game two.
After the doubleheader, the Lady Hawks fall to 4-26 overall, 1-15 GSC while the Lady Falcons improve to 16-11 overall, 6-4 GSC.
Game 1
Montevallo came out hot with the bats by plating a total of three runs in the top of the first. Followed by four more runs in the second, 7-0. The Lady Falcons piled on a total of five runs in the third and fourth. The Lady Hawks were able to plate one run in the bottom of the fourth when
Kaylee George was hit by a pitch to score
Alexa Varner.
The Lady Hawks recorded a total of four hits with one each from
Hannah Morales,
Payton Tuder,
Kaylee Combs and
Taylor Phillips.
Game 2
The Lady Falcons kept the bats rolling with a homerun in the top of the first to get on the board first. Montevallo kept the bats hot with two homeruns in the second and third innings. In the bottom of the third,
Taylor Phillips doubled to right center to score Tuder and Morales. The Lady Falcons scored three runs in the fourth. Shorter plated two more runs with a homerun from Tuder to score Morales. Montevallo plated five more runs to continue the lead 14-4.
Shorter recorded a total of six hits. Tuder and Combs each recorded one hit while Morales and Phillips added in one hit each.

The Lady Hawks will return back to Alto Park on Sunday to finish out the series against Montevallo with first pitch slated for 1p.m.
