YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.- The Lady Hawks traveled to Young Harris for a mid-week doubleheader against the Lady Mountain Lions of Young Harris. The Lady Hawks were swept in the doubleheader, losing the first game 4-13 and the second game 5-6. The Lady Hawks fall to 4-24 while the Lady Mountain Lions improve to 14-11.
Game 1
Shorter started off hot after
Kaylee Combs hit a homerun to left field which gave the Lady Hawks a 1-0 lead. Young Harris answered with four runs in the bottom of the first. The Lady Hawks scored their second run when
Payton Tuder stole second and reached third on a fielding error which allowed
Kaylee George to steal home which made it a 2-4 game. Young Harris extended their lead by adding three more runs in the third, 2-7.
Kaylee George hit a single through the left side which scored
Hannah Morales, 3-7. The Lady Mountain Lions scored three more in the fourth, 3-10.
Alexa Varner scored the fourth run for Shorter after
Carlee Graham stole second which allowed her to score, 4-10. In the sixth Young Harris added three more runs which ended the game 4-13.
Kaylee Combs and
Payton Tuder went 2-3 with Combs recording an RBI off of her first inning homerun.
Kaylee George also recorded an RBI and a hit in this game.
Carlee Graham,
Hannah Morales,
Kaylee George, and
Payton Tuder all recorded a stolen base.
Game 2
Kaylee Comb's bat started the scoring for the Lady Hawks again in the second game as she singled to left field which scored
Payton Tuder and
Hannah Morales to give Shorter an early 2-0 lead. Young Harris tied the game up in the bottom of the inning with two runs. Shorter took back the lead in the fifth inning when Taylor Philips flew out to left field which allowed
Angela Cecere to score, 3-2. The Lady Mountain Lions once again tied the game up in the bottom half of the fifth. Shorter took the lead back in the seventh after Taylor Philips hit a single up the middle which scored
Izzy Kinard, 4-3. Then
Kaylee George scored on a throwing error by the third baseman after
Paytn Cripps lined out to third base, 5-3. Young Harris then hit a two-run homerun to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, and Shea Bayreuther hit a walk-off solo homerun to win the game for the Lady Mountain Lions, 5-6.
Kaylee Combs went 2-3 and recorded two RBIs and a walk.
Carlee Graham and
Kaylee George both went 2-4 Carlee hit a double and Kaylee scored a run. Taylor Philips went 1-4 but recorded two RBIs in this game.
Hannah Morales,
Payton Tuder, and
Angela Cecere all recorded a stolen base.
The Lady Hawks will be back at Alto Park this weekend for a series against the Lady Falcons of Montevallo. The series starts with a doubleheader on Saturday March 26
th with first pitch slated for 1 PM.
