ROME, Ga.- The Lady Hawks were at home for their first conference matchup of the season against the Lady Mountain Lions of Young Harris. Shorter was unable to slow the Young Harris offense as they won 20-8.
The first goal of the game was scored by
Maria Hansen of the Lady Hawks three minutes into the game.
Alexis Mount followed up with another goal fifty seconds later off of a pass from
Cat Bloedow to give Shorter a 2-0 lead. Young Harris then scored six unanswered goal which gave them a 6-2 lead.
Cat Bloedow got in on the scoring for the Lady Hawks with 1:11 left in the first quarter off a pass from
Olivia Masters.
Olivia Contento got the scoring started in the second quarter with an assist from
Alexis Mount.
Olivia Masters recorded her 10
th goal of the season twenty seconds after Contento's goal to make it a 6-5 game. Young Harris' Morgan Lewis scored another goal for the Lady Mountain Lions to bring their lead up to two goals.
Alexis Mount scored her second goal of the game to bring the game back to a one-goal difference. However, Young Harris scored three goals before halftime and went into the break with a 10-6 lead. The Lady Mountain Lions were flying in the third quarter as they scored five goals to extend their lead to 15-6.
Alexis Mount scored her third goal of the game in the last minute of the third quarter to make it a 15-7 game. Young Harris scored five more goals in the fourth quarter.
Alexis Mount scored her 14
th goal of the season in the last minute of the game as the Lady Hawks lost 20-8.
Alexis Mount led the Lady Hawks with four goals and six shots on goal.
Olivia Contento,
Cat Bloedow,
Olivia Masters, and
Maria Hansen all scored one goal each.
Maria Hansen recorded four shots on goal.
Olivia Contento,
Cat Bloedow and
Olivia Masters all had two shots on goal. Goalkeeper
Makala McKinney recorded five saves.
The Lady Hawks will be on the road as they take on Emmanuel College on March 10
th at 12 PM.
